Mattress Topper RIB 120cm?

Hi all. Looking to advance purchase a mattress topper for our VW camper expected sometime in spring.

Our van will have a Rib 120cm bed on the bottom and a pop top also. I’m thinking a small double mattress topper is the right answer as small doubles are 120cm wide.

Read lots of threads on here and narrowed down to 3 options.

1) Rib bed 120 memory foam mattress topper from Comfortz Leisure at £164.99
2) Double woollen mattress topper from Devon Duvets at £150 - a full double size, they don’t seem to do small doubles.
3) Campervan Compact memory foam mattress topper from Duvalay at £134.90 (15% off in sales and includes a free zipped sheet) - this seems to be for a rock and roll rather than RIB bed and is 115cm wide. So I’m not sure if it’s the best option for a RIB 120 bed. The other Duvalay option is their standard Compact Travel Topper which they do in a 122cm version and is £135.94 sale price (15% off).

I‘m thinking one of the Duvalay options makes sense given sale pricing and they seem to roll up pretty compact for travel/storage.

Happy to hear opinions and recommendations from anyone currently using one of these options. Thanks.

Each to their own & I think this subject is very much personal choice. However, that said, I've recently bought the comfort leisure memory foam mattress and absolutely love it - it is so comfy and it stores well in our van set up. We have a titan varimount bed that are, I believe quiet comfy for most but I cannot sleep on it bare. I First I pulled down the pop-top vango 1" memory foam matress and slept on that. Better but still not a good night sleep. Used the comfort leisure 2" memory foam the first time and slept like a baby. Something I don't even do often do in our home bed. As said above, I like the way it trifolds onto our back shelf and also it is shaped for a transporter so it is a very good fit.

Baavet (wool duvets and other things) can do campervan mattress protectors, apparently. I emailed them as I fancy one for my van.

If you search ‘Devon duvets campervan’ they do a variety of toppers for different van beds including some reimo’s that will be close enough to the width you require. We’ve used duvalay and Devon duvets in various vans and caravans, the Devon duvets is much better at temperature regulating, comfort wise we’ve also had a comfortz leisure and that was a lot better than a duvalay despite being thinner.

The comforts leisure mattress is only 2cm thick and was £119 6 years ago. It didn't fare well after 3 years use. For optimal comfort you should opt for 5cm, minimum.

Thanks for the input so far, will look at those suggestions.

Interesting also on 5cm v 2.5cm. Obviously a comfort v storage question to be considered.

Hi @interbear We’ve just ordered a Devon Duvet topper and they are making it to our exact size (with a cut-out to accommodate the rear pillar). No idea what the lead time is going to be though

@interbear we bought a Duvalay Compact Topper for our RIB bed and having used it on a couple of trips now, we've found the 2.5cm to be too thin, I'm now looking at alternatives so I'm researching the forum for info on this! @bardellowski, will look into the custom made Devon Duvet topper

I've just bought some rejuventated panda hydrogel toppers off ebay for £60 each, small double size and 2” thick. Think because the above are linked to camping they charge the campervan tax!

Damn, we ended up buying a Duvalay Compact topper in the sales :)

Hopefully we find it OK. Van arrives next month (yay!) so will find out soon enough.

Got mine from Dunelm. Nice and thick and very comfy. Not great if you want to pack away but it fits on the top during the day. Roof doesn’t close easily if you’re gonna drive away though

They arrived this morning. They seem really comfy and thick so will try in van later. The trade off is space tho but id rather a good nights sleep than losing a bit of space

We ttried a Dunhelm and and Argos, both we're terrible......

So we bought a new topper for our home bed and cut down the Eve mattress topper that we had before to fit the van and bought a fitted sheet.. the mattress topper

Means we get better topper at home and a very high qiality topper without campervan tax in the van.

The Devon Duvet custom made mattress topper arrived eventually (the delay entirely our fault for not replying to emails!). Absolutely delighted with the quality and comfort. Can’t wait to try it in anger
