mic/speakers for conversing with rear passengers?

Bit of an odd one, and I'm not sure what so search for to see if it already exists. Basically its not easy to have a conversation with anyone in the back of the van from the front. I have in mind a dedicated mic /speaker set up, which can be mounted at the top of the A pillar in the front and im not sure where in the back, but somewhere just in front of the back seats, maybe even in the back of the drivers seat. Doesn't need to be connected to the stereo, just something to enable a conversation between the front and back of the van.

Anyone know if something already exists? or is there a gap in the market?

My Caravelle has this. There is a mic in the roof lining just behind the drivers side sunvisor and it plays out of the rear speakers. It doesn't mute the radio like the phone tho'

There is an icon in the top right of the discover media screen that you press to open up the volume setting. At least that's how I think it works. There's only me in it most of the time, so I've forgotten. I'll go and have a look in the morning.

No, only mic in the front.
Amplification is controlled via dedicated menu entry on Discover Media in T6
and via manual dial/potentiometer on RNS510 in T5.1.

I've been out and had a look at mine



This is the mic. All of my other VWs have the mic in the overhead light. The Caravelle has a different overhead light to other vans.



When changing the volume on the radio, there is an icon on the right of the volume bar. Top right of the screen.



Press this, and it opens up the Voice Enhancer control.



@Robert Unless you have already done it, your challenge should you wish to accept it is to add this to your retrofit list.

Factory.
Electronic amplifier for driver(70400) comes as add-on to Discover Media(as one of many FEC).
Retrofit is very simple nowadays as patching package and SWAP codes generator are kind of publicly available.
Patching is done straight from SD card and SWAP code can be uploaded with ODIS or VCP.
