Mileage Concerns for DSG?

Hi All,

Long time lurker, first time poster - be gentle.

I've been looking for months to get the rights spec van and in my budget and I have found a 2017 T6 Highline factory Kombi, 150ps with a DSG box, but . . . its done 110k miles. Its got FSH, but should the mileage be a major concern?

Its only just over 3 years old so I cant see how that mileage can be anything but mainly motorway. if its were a minibus or taxi it would surely have been a 9 seater - its from a dealer so they don't know but then does come with 3 months warranty.

Any thoughts on whether a 150ps engine mated to a DSG box with 110k on it is about to explode, or just run in?

Thanks!

No idea how the DSG box is going to be after that mileage, but i have the same Van with 18K on the clock. And as i hope to keep mine until either it or me dies first, so i hope the gear box works fine with higher mileage than the one you are looking at.

Any info on how many owners its had... approx 530 miles a week with a full S History and in you budget look at other vans around the same age, Mileage, for the price comparison and its condition inside for wear and tear the
timing belt and water pump replacement it should be coming up to its 2nd one by now on that mileage it's only about £350 get it a minor service again at same time new oils, filters break and disc check .. you might have a nice van there. any problems might of been already sorted on it and its got a bit of warranty to use if anything needs doing

its the usual anxiety's about buying a used motor but when you get it u ll love it it don't have to cost you a fortune

I'd say just run in. I've done exactly that mileage in a very similar set up (VAG 2.0 184ps DSG) and have no concerns at all. The DSG needs service oil change every 40K, so check it's had two already and be aware it'll seen be due another. Cambelt and water pump not too far off being due either I'd have thought

Thanks guys, I’m going to check out the service history with VW to be sure. The van is as new otherwise and from what I have seen elsewhere, if it had half the mileage it would be another £8-10k.

Thanks, they are doing a service and cam belt change as part of the deal, so one thing less to worry about!!

I have a 2.0 ,150 dsg and it's now done 106k ,as long as it's well maintained it will be fine buddy ,I got mine around the 90k mark and it was just touching 3 years ,I gave it the big service , dsg service and disc and pads all round and felt like a new van

Top Man, obviously I’ve mentally committed to buying it, I’m just looking for reassurance lol

I bought mine from VW last year with 95k on it. Not dsg, but the miles didn’t put me off. It’s the condition of the van that’s the indicator as to how hard a life it’s had.
I’d personally rather have one that’s been up and down the motorway doing 30k a year with little engine/gearbox/suspension wear than a low mileage one that’s had loads of start/stop and spent its life going up and down the gearbox, stearing, brakes, cold starts, etc etc.
Yeah, things will wear out, but you’ve got 8k to play with.

My DSG is on 98k and still feels as tight as it did when I first purchased it brand new 4 years ago. I have had mine TVS mapped, which makes a huge difference and well worth the money, and mine was serviced at 40 and 80k.
