Mircophone - is this normal?

Hi All, strange one. Just noticed that if i tap the microphone in my overhead console on my 2018 T6 highline, the speakers in the rear of the camper pick up the tapping noise and play it back. Im not sure if its always done this or if my recent extended flat battery has knocked a setting off - anyone any idea please?

This is as it should be.
There is specific volume setting in the head unit and you can turn it up or down.

So basically that means the microphone isn’t switched electronically then and is effectively always on?

I think it's a voice enhancement feature usually found on Shuttles and Caravelle's. It's so your passengers can hear you better. I guess there will be a setting on the head unit for it if you want to turn it off.
