Managed to get the rear step carpets done like the front. Fully clipped in so won’t fall out. Such an easy thing to do and makes a big difference. At least I won’t slip and break my neck

So all I did was measure out where I wanted the clips to sit in the carpet. Then I drilled a small hole carpet side up using the bottom part of the clip, turned it over and used the bottom part of the clip to draw round, cut a hole big enough using a Stanley blade for the bottom part of the clip to sit tight but enough room for the upper part to clip on. You might have to get some scissors and trim the carpet around the hole.
**Use the carpet clip for the measurements on the carpet, not the carpet trim clip**
After fitting both clips I took it over and layed it on the step, I positioned it where I wanted it. I got a sharpie and put a dot where I wanted the trim clips to sit on the step. I then drilled a hole using a 7 HSS drill bit (if not sure, always start will a smaller drill piece and work up). I then opened up the hole a little more with the drill bit by leaning it on the inner edge. I could have used the next drill bit up but didn’t want it to be loose. Then you cut away with a Stanley blade any excess plastic hanging around the hole. This will then give you a clean finish. Next up, grab the screw in carpet trim clips and screw it in nice and tight, carpet on top and clip on.
Job done
Hope this makes sense , any problems post here in the comments.
I've found a set of step drills to be really useful for controlled holes in plastic, well worth investing especially if you want to cut hole for sockets and switches
