Morning all.
I'm looking to get a spare set of wheels for my 17 plate Caravelle to run winter tyres so that I can keep the alloys out of the winter grime.
I know there is much debate about the utility of winter tyres for the UK climate, however I live in Inverness and having replaced a Subaru Outback shod with winter tyres (which would go anywhere) I'd quite like to have a similar level of sure-footedness with the Caravelle.
The local VW dealer is quoting an eye-watering £998.56 for a set of 17inch steel wheels and General Grabber tyres. (£455.28 for the wheels alone.) I prefer the look of the 17inch steel rims to the 16inch.
So, to my point. Has any one on here used Mr Winter Wheels? They are selling the 17 inch steel wheels "from German manufacturer Kronprinz and are produced exactly to OEM specification" for £286 a set.
Seems like a go0d price. Is there a catch?
Many thanks in advance for your comments and thoughts
