hi
I have just switched my mk7 golf r steering wheel from my t5 to my t6 euro 5 highline all mfsw button work fine but horns not working anyone know

Ok you must not like your fingertips

You will need golf 7 steering wheel the TSi one is what I’ve got it’s got a flat bottom, if you have DSG get ones with paddles they don’t need coding to work

Here is locations of retaining pegs

Volkswagen Golf Service & Repair Manual - Removing and installing steering wheel multifunction buttons -E441-/-E440- - Multifunction steering wheel

Starting at the bottom release the pegs using plastic trim tools, it is in very very tight

You need to remove the golf buttons and replace with T6 ones I suggest you start on the golf buttons as they are not needed! Take care round the middle I did nick one wire

Next step is swap switches and refit steering wheel

2nd time it’s easier taking switches off

I can confirm the T6 bits fit Golf 7 and then wheel fits and works

The Golf is a bit thinner and I marked the column with a chisel as it was not spotted

You will need to remove airbag fault with vcds or similar

Piccies the refit is easiest from bottom spoke to push switches back in

I did the exact same job with the MK7 Golf wheel, but mine had flappy paddles, and it was just as easy to carry out, and pretty much plug and play once you've swapped the switch gear over like above.

just a tip for you guys.....the polo uses the same can system so you can convert a mk7 gti wheel by buying the pods from tps and swapping over .

Does that mean that the polo buttons would work on a transporter wheel in a t6 ?

There's another good thread on here about fitting various different VW wheels to T6's, I'm at work and can't find the link right now.

But, yes the Polo wheel works straight out of the box on a T6 I believe, it's the ACC where things get tricky and I can't remember if the Polo ACC works on a T6 (the Golf doesn't, but can me made to)

Thanks mate, have trawled through but will have another look! Luckily don’t have acc so thinking just to get a polo wheel without cruise, take the buttons and frame from the polo wheel and swap with the transporter wheel, shame the cruise doesn’t work on the wheel but never mind.

Just bought this as I got a good deal (I think), I don’t have ACC or DSG so should be a straight swap as all the buttons are the same. The only thing I’ve noticed is to small holes which what look like snapped screws in but I don’t think it will effect the wheel?

Am I right or have just waisted a load of cash?

As all the buttons match what you have, i dont see why that should not work fine. Drop it on and see :)

I have a similar wheel with the holes in the back but mine have no metal in them just empty

I won’t be fitting it till March as I’m away but fingers crossed it will fit!
