Net luggage mount?

Hi folks,

I'm thinking about buying net luggage for my multivan (part 7h5861691A/B) for next trip but cannot find info how to mount it at bottom. I don't see mounting points in my boot floor. Anyone knows if that's version to i.e. transporter/caravel/etc only? I know how to fit it at top, but I'm looking for info how to mount it to the floor. Here is the net I'm talking about: Siatka oddzielająca bagaż Transporter (TR) 2014 год volkswagen MEKSYK 861000

Any help appreciated!

I have one for my UK Caravelle (EU Multivan)

It mounts at the top either right by the tailgate or just behind the B pillar in the sockets in the roof lining.

It's tensioned down into the outer seat rails with a T hook on an elastic webbing strap.

Wooow, I love this forum!! Thank you! I've searched forum first but couldn't find this :/ As I thought, it's to the rails at bottom but wasn't sure. Topic to close.

We do our best around here, we're lucky enough to have a helpful community with a spread of knowledge and different vans, glad it helped

yep, I don't have mounting points at top so plan to add them but was not sure if there are any at bottom. That would be nice addition while I have trunk fully loaded to the top...

anyone maybe knows where those top mounting points (7H0861705C/D, 7H5861887C/D) are exactly (how to measure it)? I have L2H1 version so need to check where itshould be...

I wasn't aware until I saw the diagram you linked to that it was possible to get the mounts - I'd assumed it was a Caravelle/Multivan only option and the mounts were always there (given that you need the rail system at the bottom)

From the diagram those look like machine screws and no other part is mentioned so I would assume the corresponding mounting thread should already be on the body in the right place?

Sorry I'm not pulling down my headlining to check ;)

Can you retrofit the top mountings to a T6.1 Van? i.e what do they screw into, and does that exist?

Your problem is not just the top mount - if you don't have a Caravelle rail system there is nothing to secure the bottom to - and that's a much bigger retrofit.

As I said in the linked to thread they're useful if you need to carry a load, but I wouldn't pay full price for them nor do I think I would bother retrofitting them.

Guys, I have multivan, have the rails. The only "missing" piece is that I don't have those mouting points at top. Retrofitting should be easy as "body" will contains all holes so I probably will have to pull down the headlining and check... no worries, I've already retrofitted the boot cover (which is not in L2 versions and was harder ;)).

The bottom doesn't worry me so much, I have T track installed so could easily adapt something. But nothing at the top, and this would be handy addition so if anyone does pull a headliner down - photos ;)

Mines a 6.1 and the light today isn't great but these might help get you in the right area?

The bottom mounts are a very specific type of elasticated webbing inside tubular non elastic webbing with a specific tab to pull down to tension then while you position the T hook.

It might be difficult to replace that with something else @TJH1985 - the mount points are extremely heavily sewn for strength.

Great photos, thank you! Do you have short or long version (L1 or L2)?
I have what I know as a SWB Short Wheel Base - so I assume the L1?

And if yours is L2 (so what the UK knows as LWB Long Wheel Base) that makes more sense as AFAIK those were only ever available as the lower Caravelle/Multivan spec

I guess there is a risk if your L2 version was never factory built to have the mounts then the mountings might not be there under the headling?

I have place where I can put endoscope and I will check during this weekend ;) But yes, SWB = L1, LWB = L2 (and I have LWB).

I used endoscope and looks like there are some mounting points in the roof. Will have to find some photos how exactly looks the place where those parts (7H5861888) are attached...

It won't be so easy... I've checked again and I'm not sure where those mounting points are - no holes for screws :/ trying to find pictures. If someone has pictures without headliner it would be super helpful...
