Hi everyone,
Thought I'd say hi, I've put a deposit on a two tone, bronze/white, T6.1 Caravelle which I'm hoping to pick up next week.
I was wondering if the previous owner is one here as it's a seemingly unusual colour and has had a few modifications. The reg is DE70 ZYU. Want to check there aren't any surprises waiting.
Thanks a lot and looking forward to my ownership

Welcome wow you joined fast after my recommendation on FB.

Another 6.1 Caravelle, welcome

We did look at an all over bronze one when we were looking. Loved the colour on the outside but it was matched with a very light interior that would in no way work with our adventures (and the younguns)

I'd seen a couple like that. Looked nice on the outside but the interior wasn't practical for us.
What did you go with in the end?
I had a deposit down on a VW used approved Bamboo T6 4Motion but the condition wasn't great and had mechanical issues they were having to sort. Saw this and I'm withdrawing the deposit on the other. The sales people's attitudes was also soo much better at this one which was great, plus this has more optional extras which I would have trading off due to the Bamboo and 4Motion.

I have a whole tinkering thread on my van here:

We really wanted a 4Motion coming from a long period of events and XC70s but decided we'd found a good enough combination of other options and they were getting in short supply. Of course in the first few weeks of ownership we saw a near identical 4Motion to our new van - always the way!

Typical. I've made turn to turn off any alerts I had set to try and avoid seeing something then wondering whether I should've held out.
How do you find not having 4Motion?

It's been fine, we have the CC2 tyres anyway that we've always used on the XC70 anyway. Also have a set of snow socks. The Caravelle isn't has heavy in the back as a camper conversion either.

The times I've actually needed the AWD drive in the XC70 have been few and far between but essential - such as Scotland during the Beast from the East.

I'd prefer to have it as peace of mind but we just take a bit more care. Biggest thing to remember is that while the van has the same ground clearance as the XC70 it's not nearly as capable - it's much more vulnerable to underside damage and water issues. Hard to override nearly 15 years of driving instinct in the other vehicle!
