Hey all,

I've just joined the forum :)

I've been looking for a used T6 for the last few months, haven't found anything that meets all the requirements so I've decided to order a new one which won't come until next year :(

I'm sorting out ordering it now and have so far gone for:

LWB 4motion Auto
Paint - Metallic - Starlight Blue
Upholstery - Mesh Leatherette - Palladium-Titanium Black : Palladium-Titanium Black
Heated Front Seats
LED headlamps with LED daytime running lights (Tailgate) with red tail lights
Electric Sliding Door - Driver and Passenger Side
Tailgate with Window - Electric
Swivel Seat Driver
Swivel Seat Passenger
Rear View Camera

The plan with the van is to use it a daily/weekend family car, I have 2 young children (2 and 6 months) and I intend to keep it for whole of their childhoods for days out, weekends away and holidays. The plan is to put in pop top and a forty winks bed so the 4 of us can comfortably sleep when needed it but it's not a full on camper, don't want to cook in it ect. I still want to be able pile it full of bikes and surfboards when we're not sleeping in it.

I wondered before taking the plunge and ordering it if there's any other extras that I will regret not ordering?

I thought about towbar but a friend said it's easy enough and cheaper to have one fitted retrospectively?

It's cheap enough to have a towbar fitted but having prep saves a lot of messing around with wires under the dashboard. Regardless of who may end up fitting it I would prefer to minimise the risk of anything getting broken.
I would also recommend a heated windscreen. I am not sure if this is standard with what you have already spec'd but I wouldn't be without it.

That does make sense, I've added Towbar onto the order.

Once I've got the van we're wanting to get a leisure battery and diesel heater installed under the 2 seats, does anyone know if the swivel seats will restrict this?

Order the extra battery and diesel heating

I would recommend Side Assist I have been driving vans for nearly 40 years and Its a greet idea and works very well,, illuminates blind spots. The simple things are normally the best.

Since ordering a van with all the spec I wanted has come up for sale, on the next street from my house. Only difference is it's not a 4motion but the 150 2wd, it's 2018 with 13k miles for £34k. Does this sound like a reasonable price?

I'm not not sure whether I go for it, get it now and save £12k which would cover the conversion.

Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated

A couple of points regarding converting a 4 Motion:
1. Reduced possibilities for underfloor water / gas tanks without loosing the spare wheel.
2. Additional weight of 4WD system Vs the conversion weight and payload.
