Usually, existing owners join because they have issues and are seeking assistance or they have plans and are looking for inspiration/advice. Hopefully you're in the latter group(?)

I joined because I was scared of being beaten up by Renault van drivers and felt joining a gang would be good for protection.

Not sure yet, normally trade for new one after 5 years, may keep this a little longer, not really into try and fix myself but it’s interesting to see what’s going on. Vw in Ireland rip you off any way they can.

Not sure VW are any different in the UK - maybe even worse.

Nope, they are much worse as it’s practically a monopoly. Nothing like capitalising on being an island of Europe, eh?!!

That’s why there is a healthy market in Ireland for buying a secondhand car from UK or Japan…..higher spec and more toys as standard (because there is competition!)
