New prices

I paid 27k for a 67 plate 150 dsg kombi. Sportline bits bolted on and lowered, wheels etc at the dealers. Pre registered with 8 miles on the clock. I wish I would have bought 10 of them

Big waiting list?
It’s more complex than a single list. If a dealer has sold their allocation you might have to wait 6 months longer than one who does have allocation ( a build week) to sell you. Be clear when you buy the dealer has allocation for your precise van. Some have a year long wait who got caught out whilst some have vans on their drive eight months earlier. Don’t trust your dealer until you get a build week.

They’ll quote 12-16 weeks as standard in most cases. But whether you see it in anything like that time is very random. Some orders in last 2 months are being told Sept or Oct delivery at earliest. Others randomly turn up within less time. Other examples of identical vans being ordered on the same day at same dealer and delivery being 2-3 months apart. Some dealers have factory allocation and orders coming through as expected, while others have used up allocation and can’t be sue when orders will be built.

So long waiting lists? Kind of. But in reality, the order and factory build process seems very random.

Another thing to add the the equation, that has been touched on here, is dealerships taking orders knowing they don't have an allocation at the factory. What numbers and when their allocations are updated is obviously unknown to us, and add to that, the impact of Covid and Brexshit, and all in all not a great time to be ordering a T6.1.

Im still waiting for Norwich VWVC, who had allocation available , to let me know a build week after my order was confirmed by them on 25th March....early days I guess.
From what I gather they are not notified as such, but they log on a check every now and again and then let you know if they have time/remember.
Im not stressed about it at all ATM...but that may change lol!!

I wasnt stressed either when I started back in Sept......until the 12-16 weeks came and went....... then at 22 weeks after order still with no build week it got cancelled by VW and I had to start over again.

Fortunately second time around, and not via a third party this time, i was able to hijack a dealer order that already had a build week and was close to my spec. It’s a lottery as far as I can tell, and certainly far from consistent across dealers.

But as Danny says, the key point is check if the dealer actually has build allocation, and in which month. If they can’t tell you that, they likely don’t have any allocations left and you’re in for a long wait.
