Hi all

Paul, from Somerset - New to the transporter scene although I did once have a golf gtd

Loving my T6.1 DSG - bought last August but currently using it for work - slowly doing a few bits and pieces to it with the end goal of converting it into a day van / rock and roll bed option for myself and the wife to disappear on a Friday ! I’m a sparky so as you can appreciate, it’s now the cleanest van of any trady that I meet or work with

Having the digital dash fitted next week with the under seat sub / Alpine upgrade - I’m a drummer so love my music.

My question / query though is squeaky rollers - it’s a 23 plate and the middle runner roller on the sliding door squeaks, not always but enough for my ocd to get a bit twitchy, is this normal, is there any solutions or is it a simple tweak - I’ve heard people suggest to definitely not grease them ?

Thanks for having me - look forward to your thoughts

Hi Sparkypaul, welcome to the T6 Forum. I agree these vehicles are a pleasant drive. Disapear on Friday but back on here------------- A drummer , what sort of music might that be and is it your choice while in the Van?

Indeed they are, feel like I'm driving around in luxury these days :)

At the moment, I haven't managed to look into the options I might have with any conversions, I use Milwaukee Packout kit for all my tools so for the moment, I unclip it all and put a blow up bed in, seems to work for the short term before we make any firm choices.

I was fortunate to grow up listening to my Dads music a lot - he was into Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Beatles and Def Leppard, my style of drumming was based more around the 50s 60s rock and roll era, as i'm primarily a wedding band drummer so we have to be fairly versatile. Oddly though I spend most of my time listening to new indie rock while im in the van, probably influenced a lot by my daughters taste of music really.

Will see what the new alpine kit sounds like next week when I have it installed !!!

Hi Sparkypaul,

I joined t6forum yesterday, I've had my T6.1 converted camper for 3 weeks.

Like you I've got the alpine/sub on my upgrade list, but my ears pricked up when you mentioned, digital dash - what upgrade do you speak of?

Evening -

Definitely move that sub upgrade further up your to do list if you love your music, the initial alpine speaker upgrade is worlds apart from the original VW speakers although the alpines can sound a bit toppy - the Sub then brings everything back down to a better level. I appreciate there are many others out there, I had alpine in my younger years and always thought they were pretty decent back then so stuck with them. The speakers and tweeters are a pretty straight forward task if you're quite handy ( I did a bit of sound deadening to the door at the same time ) however the Sub was a little beyond my capabilities so left it to the guys who did the digital dash. The dash is a VW product, I believe it is standard now in the sport line and any GTI or R line cars but it was definitely worth the upgrade. I went all out and had some mood lighting too. The guys who fitted it for me were in Luton ( HazzyDayz ) apparently the digital dash is one of their most common upgrades. Appreciate its dark but hopefully the pics do it justice ( Apologies if I'm not allowed to name companies )
