Hi all
New member here - Im disabled and have a VW caravelle, converted to take my powered wheelchair. Its rather elderly now (9 yrs) and I’m looking to change it for a T6.1 Shuttle SE. But, due to lockdown and having to shield for a year, I've not seen one in the flesh so knowing what i can do in terms of adaptions with the new design is proving tiresome. Therefore I will be spamming you for ideas and advice! Many thanks in advance!

My in-laws have a T5.1 with wheelchair adaptations, air suspension and a ramp etc.

The T5/6/6.1 are all much of a muchness with only incremental changes so a 6.1 shouldn’t be an issue at all.

NB, always, always, always spec led headlamps

Great thanks. I've been told the length between fron passenger seat and rear bench is only 1.2 mtrs. Not big enough space for me to enter from side lift, turn and lock chair down. My current caravelle has the rails fitted so the rear seats were moved back to accommodate (we have completely removed second row seats)

My mother-in-law (sounds like the start to a Bernard Manning gag) is the disabled person and doesn't drive so she goes in through the rear, up the ramp, along a rail and locks into place on the passenger side.

With you being the driver I don't think there's any point comparing the vans as they offer different solutions for different disabilities.

There's definitely another disabled driver on this forum who extensively modified his van, but I can't remember his username and I can't find the thread either.

The resident forum guru's @Pauly @Dellmassive might remember?
