OEM Shock Absorbers on back order!

Hi guys,

Maybe some new/useful information to some of you :)

Spoke to my local dealership today about acquiring replacement front shocks and apparently there is close to no stock UK (OSF) and in the case of NSF no stock UK/EU
They apparently have NSF on back order but without indication of when they'll receive anything. VAG p/n (NSF) 7e5413031e and (OSF) 7e5413032.

This may be slightly unique in that I've got DCC and I presume that would be electronically adjustable damping, hence ~£270 a corner to purchase from dealer, but still....
I've contacted a local garage who use TPS so hoping they may have something on shelf (find out tomorrow), if not I'm looking for B14 lowering kit! :somersault:

Any recommendations for supply and fit in the Poole area of Dorset would be most welcome!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Cheers,

There must be piles of OEM suspension at suspension specialists, most of it destined for the scrap yard.
Check them out

Was my thought but so far, alas it seems the DCC is only going to cause problems for maintaining and quite honestly it rides to high on OEM shocks & springs:slow rofl:

From what I learnt on this forum, B14 is NOT the answer!

Passports and inoculations aside, they still let you call out of county, right?!!

Yeah just got to pick up that additional calling charge for out of area code ;)

Lots more phoning around tomorrow I think to understand immediate options, @BognorMotors appear to have successfully sorted out @JimVee (although I notice he's now reverted)

Thanks @n10n I'm trawling this fountain of knowledge this evening trying to understand other's experience with DCC.

From your post I was under the impression you were looking to fit OEM:thumbsdown:
Potentially I would, but there seems to be a shortage in supply. (probably a lack of lorry drivers)

We dont have any DCC used parts in our scrap bin , but it isn't that good in my opinion we already remove hundreds of DRC suspension kits from Audi RS 4 and the KW delete kit sorts the electronics out perfectly , no faults or hassles this leaves you free to fit what ever you like to the van and go low if that is what you need to do . Dont be afraid its simple /

For accuracy, DCC and DRC are not even remotely similar. DRC is simply superb in its function of controlling roll.
DCC is also very good (although never tried it on a van) A coilover kit with DCC compatibility is the sweet spot IMO.

Or as mentioned above, its fairly simple to delete nowadays too.

I have to admit the DCC imo is pretty pointless in a Caravelle so I can't imagine I'd miss it. Looking at KW kits this morning and admittedly I'm a little lost as to which is the kit for DCC compatibility o_O

edit: Appears to be quite limited availability from KW :( but I suspect street comfort inox is where I'd start...

Happy to take any recommendations of who to call @DXX ;)

Trents is the largest local scrap yard to Poole and no stock.

For accuracy I am very aware of the difference , The point i was trying to get across is that the delete kits we use on the RS models that need it, work perfectly and i would expect the same for the VW DCC . I wasn't comparing the 2 systems at all , You obviously dont know us so you are forgiven for thinking i dont know the difference !!
I think both are gimmicky and a waste of money to be honest and i would never select these options if they were an option ,( no choice in RS cars obviously ) The comments we get from all our RS customers is that our shock kit is way Superior in ride and handling to the DRC "Simply Superb " stuff

Looks like this is still an issue - Got told yesterday I need a new OSF Shock - I have DCC and have been told 3 month waiting on parts, with no guarantee they'll turn up in that time frame!!! Anyone know where else to source a 7E5413031E from....

Thanks mate - appreciate that. We may be getting somewhere with VW. They’ve now said possibly 4 days to come in stock but won’t know until we order and then they chase - feels a little suss to me but gonna go ahead and see where we get!
