OEM (Thule Wanderway) Bike Rack spares

Hi there.

New to the forum and owning a T6.

I bought my 66 T6 a few months ago and it came with a Thule Bike rack - a Wanderway I believe (model number 7E0.071.104). I didn't have a need to use it immediately but have since realised that it only has the fourth bike support (the one in two parts).

I can buy a separate 3rd Bike Adapter directly from Thule:

but can't seem to find anywhere that sells the first and second bike supports. My question is if I buy three of the third adapters will they also fit? If not, have I got a useless bike rack?

Many thanks.

I have a Thule Velospace XT3, and the bike arms are all different lengths as the bikes sit at different distances from the bike rack support. The 4th bike on mine attaches to the third bike with a short arm.

Good evening, we have a four way Wanderway bike rack and the clamps that attach to the bike frame have seized. I have tried
Penetrating fluid but to no avail. Any other help would be good. Thanks

I’ve had similar, they will usually unseize with brute force. Trouble is once they have seized the screw thread is usually pretty corroded and the screw clamp then fails leaving the bikes at risk. You really need to buy replacement arms which are about £130 for a set of three short/medium/long arms on eBay. I’m guessing the 4th bike adapter has been kept in the van so is fine.

Hi there

I’ve lost one of the captive nut/black plastic knobs that tighten down the wheel/tyre carriers

I thought I’d found the right part, ordered it and it’s totally wrong

Anyone got a spare or know where to get spares

If you mean the 6mm knurled hand nut …. I had to cut 2 off mine off when I removed the rails for repainting as they had seized after 3 years … I simply replaced the bolts for same sized stainless versions and installed a nut and a nylock nut with a black pvc nut cap to finish off .. looks fine and harder to remove for any sticky fingered night raiders

Hi, sorry I’m not permitted to post in for sale / wanted thread for some reason.
annoyingly the middle bike clamp has seized permanently , the handle with inserted thread onto the rod, so it just unscrews the retaining nut at the top. Tried everything, my local garage even tried to release it. I can remove it to replace it

So Wondered if anyone got a spare, i.e a rack that has been damaged in some other way and no longer of use. I don’t even need the bracket or sleeve. Just the rod and the hand wheel,

see photo for style of rack as there are variants on T6

thanks

Cut the old plastic handle/knob with a hack saw. This will expose the internal steel nut. You can then use a spanner on it while holding the other end with another spanner or socket. Some WD4O may help. Then fit one of these:

It’s annoying that server hosts and website engineers want paying, too ;)
Everyone can pop a Wanted thread up, you just need to help keep the adverts at bay by spending £1.08 a month with us!

But in all seriousness, if you need to ask others where you can find spares - as you have done - that’s completely fine and not what we’d see as a classified advert.

@jimjam has hit the nail on the head. You don’t often get bike-rack spares advertised on here, so that will likely be your quickest fix.
Perhaps adding a dab of copper-slip to the new fixing should prevent it seizing.
Good luck and let us know how you get on

Thank you, I didn’t think to search for the knob only, but just the whole unit which was a lot more expensive. The middle one doesn’t get used much, so must remember to turn it now and then! All the best

Just found this thread:

Hi all.

Does anyone know where to get one off these parts for a genuine VW bike rack.

Any help appreciated.
Thanks.

A Google search of that part number suggest it's a Thule component, so anywhere that sells Thule parts & accessories I guess.

Think I've linked to this before: Clicky although I've not broken one myself, I might get a spare !!
