Oldrat’s Crafter Camper has finally landed

We bought this Crafter LWB superhigh Roof panel Van from VW as a demonstrator last November, well CV19 and a cancer operation meant that it took a lot longer to complete.
It was converted by Richard of Rhales conversions, Oundle, Peterborough to our own design.
It should soon also have new wheels and a two tone paint job to make it less of a builders van!!

Our wish was that it had to be both flexible (to be able to carry a motorcycle or other load) and it needed to have spacious living accommodation (which motorcycle carrying ‘race vans’ sadly lack)

The sofas configure as either 2 singles, they can pull together to make a huge King size,or the passenger bed removes completely to take my motorcycle.
The bins are behind the tambour door which can be replaced with a front wheel chock. For lashing, it has 4 Unwin rails on the floor and one rail on each side behind the sofas.

Being a superhigh roof, the two Maxxair fans are remote controlled as I can barely reach them!

if I told the wife she’d kill me .( beats having a pop top )...then I’d have to totally rebuild the carport the van only just goes in now..but @Oldrat has raised the bar ( you really shound’nt post stuff like that I’ve only just paid for this one)

Filtered drinking water is my guess.

Main clean water tank is huge so there’s a 20litre drinking water container under the sink.
It means that it’ll be fresh.

I mean, at home, you don’t drink from you bathroom tap do you

Well, it my tribute to Ben Parts famous (in the Guzzi world) “Zagato”.
Despite being well wrapped, it would still get dirty being trailered to shows behind my T6, hence the design of this Crafter.

Well you know what they say about hindsight, if I could go back in time I would probably bypass the Transporter and buy a Crafter/Sprinter.
I love the rustic/pallet wood look so would like something like this. I love the idea of the fixed bed too, and I would have saved £27k.
