Panel into Kombi

Morning all - first post . Being offered a 2021 t6.1 panel at a good price. Have to decide quickly and (aside from build quality of 6.1 concerns..) one factor is being able to use it whilst I scrape conversion money together...if you can help, question is: Rough cost of putting second row of seats in (one quote so far - @3k including VAT - seemed alot!). And the costs of two tinted side windows and a rear (it is a tailgate). I am sure there are plenty of suppliers (one mentioned on here I think is a Graham in Oxfordshire?) but I am just wondering if it's worth it if the cost effectively takes it up to a Kombi price anyway?...I don't strictly need a T6.1 anyway - just need a Ulez compliant transporter. aside from build quality of 6.1 concerns..

There's certainly evidence of penny pinching with ceratin trim fittings and equipment options, but little of an actual reduction in "quality" as most consumers understand it.

The paint is equally thick, they come off the same production lines at the hands of the same people/robots, there is little actual substantive evidence at this stage that quality is in any way inferior. Early models are racking up big miles with the same aplomb as the 6, and seem no more or less inclined to break.

Thank you that's helpful and comforting. I also wonder if there's some kind of incalculable 'bias' when going online on these things both because a. forums are into granular details/issues and b. often going online is to report and seek help for a perceived problem. I've now got a quote for windows and rear bench (from t5 - will use seat covers) for £3k all in, supply and fit incl VAT. Seems decent to me as it effectively turns a panel into a kombi for 3k. Hearing seats are in demand at the moment too so if not needed later it's probably not a sunk cost.

If you was intrested in supplying your own seats and belts, We charge £395 for the fitting of kombi seats. This includes genuine VW reinforcement plates for chassis and seat belt mounting points.
2 x fixed windows are £190 each.

We used to supply some kombi seats but what ever we had in stock was normally the wrong configuration so generally just fit customers supplied now.
