Parking in Buxton

Morning all -

I am looking to take a trip to Buxton for a few nights during November, the hotel advertises valet parking at £30 per night, I am just wondering if anyone has any experience with any other van friendly overnight parking in the area? (Car park or street parking.)

Ideally I'd park up on arrival to Buxton and not need move the van until two days later when I leave.

Thanks!

I don't go to Buxton much but live not to far away in Glossop.
I can't see any issues with just parking it in the street. There's plenty of nice residential areas close to the centre. I don't think of buxton has a high crime area and £30 for parking in Buxton seems very steep to me.

are you aware of any residential parking permit schemes in the area? I'm happy to park on road but don't want to upset anyone or get a ticket.

There is parking at the Town Hall which we have used during the day, can't recall the cost, but it is very central. No idea how secure it is but looks as good as anywhere.

Thanks!

Not that I'm aware off but it has been a few years since I was last there.
It's not particularly a busy area so I would expect so. If you get chance Castleton is very nice and not far from Buxton. You can camp cheaper there, than what the hotels trying to charge to park lol.

I'd expect to pay no more than £5 a day to park or free on one of the many streets.

I've got a good idea which hotel you are staying in and the hotel has been put up for sale after missing loan payments. They say its business as usual and as it's part owned by the Council then nothing is changing.

You should be ok going in November.

Edited as I incorrectly stated it had gone bust.

Thanks for that info! I haven’t made the booking yet, I was 80% set on Buxton but 20% of me likes somewhere I’ve seen in the Lake District, it’s just an extra hours drive from here and a bit more isolated so it’s swayed me to Buxton. I’ll do some digging before I pay any money!
