Passenger footwell trim broken after service

My T6.1 was recently serviced by main dealer and came back with a broken piece of plastic on the floor and the trim in the passenger footwell hanging down. I pointed this out and they ordered the part and fitted it.

However, the guy who fitted it asked me if there had been any work carried out previously as he noted that there was a gap on the left hand side so that if you press the panel there is nothing behind supporting it. The rest of the panel has support, except on the left hand side. I told him that I was unaware of any reason why the conversion would have affected this and that we had not noted this previously. He agreed to check the part was the correct one but has now gone quiet. I will continue to chase but just wanted to check whether this is an issue others have experienced.

Please could someone with a similar van tell me if this panel is supported behind across its full width. It's the panel underneath the glove box which I think they access to change the pollen filter(?). If you press it on the top left, does it flex inwards or is it firmly supported and doesn't move?

TIA

I have a T5.1 so maybe not the best comparison but mine is solid all along. I’ve changed the pollen filter a few times and it is always thankfully gone well - no broken parts.
The trim panels beneath the gear stick all clip together but seem less supported than the higher panels on my dash - by design that is, nothing missing.

It should be firm. There is a chunky clip in the top left corner. These photos were helpful when I did my filter. It’s a bit more flappy at the bottom, but should still be secure.

A converter could have removed it to run wires to the vehicle battery (I did), so I guess your fitter is trying to claim it wasn’t him that broke a clip, honest guv.
