Plywood flooring seriously screwed to floor?

I just watched a youtube video where 12mm plywood pre cut floor is screwed to van floor with 16mm screws straight into metal ridges.

Surely this is not the correct way where the screws will come out at the bottom of the van?

That’s standard ‘builders van’ prep’ from the showroom I guess.

He does say he does it both ways in the comments, but personally I’d glue batons down and screw into them, not the floor.

Is there a Camborne Campers video, or am I mixing that up with the carpeting one?

Probably wasn't Camborne either. Definitely begins with C.

I’ve seen pictures on the forum re batton placement, usually on the wider flat sections between the ribs.

(Amended to use correct word batten not baton!) :) Dont want to upset the grammar police!

That's the standard ply lining install method unfortunately...

It's the same on all vans...

Infact on my sport line, they used screws that were so long that when I fitted the towbar, I couldn't remove the spare wheel.liner as they had screwed right though it, in multiple places...they was about 5mm from Going into the tyre.

If you get under the van and remove the plastic under trays you will see the holes made by any previous ply lining.... Especially on ex panel vans aka as above - builders vans.

And that was ply lining fitted by the main dealers contractor on a brand new van.

++++

The only silver lining is that it comes out easy when you remove it.

++++

But agreed it not ideal, and I wouldn't do it on my conversation.... Glue,buttons,boards, sand bags weight is how I would do it.

It's one way but I'd certainly say its not the right way. Careful about the 'information' given in YouTube videos as it not always good.

Surely not. Someone point me in the right direction for the correct way.
Video he says they really like custom shop products but it doesn't fit and has to jig saw it.... Perhaps.it was a one off.
Generally ply lining companies charge peanuts to VW etc to line vans so fit as fast as possible
I.e screw in. Only screw if you have battens glued in first but this is generally only on floors which are raised or if you want insulation (but that's another topic). Transporter floors can be glued directly in, that's the way we have done it since day one.
We can supply one piece ply floors, with packers pre attached to floor which fit, no extra cutting, with cut outs for kombi, lashing ponts etc as well as ply kits, halo roofs etc. all can be shipped.
Check out our updates in this forum or Instagram for images and info. Cheers

When I did my floor, I bought a 5x10 sheet and cut my own one piece floor. I didn't put any battons between the ridges or screw the ply down at all. In the 18 months it's been in it hasn't moved at all, and hadn't dipped into any of the gaps that the battons would sit.

Hi, I have a 2018 T6 LWB which I am converting, it currently has a commercial rubber flooring which I want to replace with 12mm plywood. Is it just a simple as tracing around the rubber flooring, has someone here used this method?

You can do this but the floor.is oversized so you will need to reduce on the ply. You will need a large sheet of ply also. We supply CNC cut one piece ply floors to both retail and trade which takes all the effort out of it for you. They are perfect fit first time. Cheers
