PolarFIS - Where to find CAN Gateway (J533)?

Hi all,

Does anyone know if our cars have a separate CAN Gateway/ J533 module like most of the other VAG passenger cars?

I have stripped almost everything on the driver's side interior (RHD) and have not yet found it (in my Audi TTS this is located behind the instrument cluster). I did find the Body Control Module though.

After comparing HW part numbers (7E0 937 090) from a VCDS scan as well as looking through SSP 561 it seems that J533 and J519 (the Body Control Module) share a part number, and might even be integrated inside the same unit?

The below image is what I am looking for/ expecting to find when looking for a J533 / CAN gateway

Thanks @Pauly, happy to know I've not gone crazy.

My next quest now is to find a pinout for this unit as I will need to make a custom adaptor for my PolarFIS which uses the 10 pin connector that's usually found on the J533 units.

Polar advised the unit is compatible with this vehicle after I sent them A VCDS scan, but I suspect they did not realise the harness would be different.

That's very interesting... looks like you need hook up databuses.
Perhaps chapter 4 helps to get started --> VW Transporter 2016+ - Electrical Wiring Diagrams | Free Download
Keep us posted!

Just to update everyone, I will attempt to build this cable as soon as I order the OEM connectors. But I think I have had success with the pinouts and have added them below.

Will update on part numbers for connectors to build the adaptor cable once I get there

EDIT: "6R0 937 700 A (white)" is the male connector that is needed. I am a but stumped for the female connector as that's essentially part of the BCM's moulding. Might need to find a dead BCM and hack that piece out of there.

Any update on this?

Found it a bit of a struggle to source connectors without paying €90 shipping on a €0.50 part so decided to just clip and splice into the harness.

Might attempt this tomorrow and will let you know outcome.

It is a bit pricy approach but I am curious about your experience with PolarFIS.
