PPF

Hi all , the link below show the process that New Look Detailing of Hinckley carried out on my new T6.1 to apply Xpel PPF.
Great job and really helpful and friendly people and service, since the video I have had the rest of the van ceramic coated and the windows tinted.

Very nice @Carlwaynie.

Funds allowing, I'd love to get my van PPFed and ceramic coated, so a few questions for you, if I may,...
  • Do you know if there are patterns available for any of the many different spoilers/splitters that might be fitted to the front end?
  • Is the PPF hydrophobic or do you need a ceramic coating on top of it for that?
  • You say you had "...the rest of the van ceramic coated..." - does that mean you had ceramic coating applied only to the areas that weren't PPFed?
  • If you had to choose between PPF or ceramic coating, which would you choose and why?
  • How much was the PPF? ("bugger off & mind your own business" is an acceptable response ;))
TIA

These vans aren't cheap and I think you are wisely protecting your investment, money well spent in my opinion.

Hi Bav… in answer to your questions,
At the time they could only print off the patterns for the bonnet, front end and driver and passenger door, the two sliding doors I believe were done off a large sheet of Xpel PPF.
Yes the Xpel is hydrophobic and self healing when it gets heated e.g hot days
Ceramic coating was only applied to the panels that didn’t have the PPF
Cost , well put it this way it was more than £2500 but less than £4000 for the PPF.
The ceramic was less than £1000
I did get a quote to have the whole van done with PPF, that at the time was a whopping £5000

And just to add , I’m very happy with what they have done, once applied they have the van back two weeks later to check that everything is as it should be and give it a clean, so in the two and a half months I have owned the van they have washed it 3 times and I’ve only done it once…result.

Hope all this helps

Sorry missed one of your questions, if I had to choose PPF or ceramic and money was no object then I’d definitely go for full PPF as it does all the things that ceramic does but gives you better protection from stone chips, scuffs, doors being dinged by other vehicles doors and self heals

Thanks for the info @Carlwaynie - much appreciated.

At those prices, I'll probably need a rethink re the PPF.

Which ceramic did you have done and how long is supposed to last?
