Hi all,

I'm in need of help trying to determine the difference between the same size tyres ! As some of you know different brands of tyres in the same size are physically different sizes, ie a Goodyear 255/40/20 might be a little bigger than a Hancook 255/40/20. So the question is what is the smallest 255/40/20 available in 101 load rating ?

Failing that is there a good brand 255/35/20 101 ?

TIA
Brian

Accelera tyres are narrow compared to almost anything else on the market. They do a 255/40 20 that’s 101 rated. Budgets are generally narrower than mid range or premium.

To get load rating in 255/35 20 it has to be a budget tyre. Sunny, Lavigator and Powertrac all do them in 102 rating. Royal Performance do a 103 rating. None do a 101.

Thanks Chris, just the info I was looking for. I've currently 255/40/20 Rainsport 5's and they're pretty chunky and despite a few inner plastic arch mods still rub a tiny bit on full lock. In fairness I am down 100mm on SoLows. I'll get the hot air gun out again and see if I can push the liners back a smidge more before changing tyres.

You can also get a Nankang AS-2+ in 245/40 20 with 103 load rating. That’s a pretty good tyre and works at the sort of ride height you’re running.
