Hi

If I swap out the factory basic headunit with a RCD360, will I lose any of the current vehicle options ? Ie parking sensors, dash display ext ?

Has anybody upgraded there VW factory fitted to this model from Travelinlite :

VW T6 RCD360+ With Apple Car Play / Android Auto 6.5" Factory Fit

is it a straight forward replacement?… is it worth the money?….any alternatives around the same price and straight forward fitting.

Thanks in advance

Search with RCD360, plenty of content and somebody reported today that they’ve had two which have failed within one year.

Put one in at the beginning of the year, no failure yet but not a long test period. Simple to fit, my 2017 T6 required a connection lead for the aerial, available when buying the head unit or elsewhere. Had a rear camera fitted later by Day-Tec (even simpler :) ). Reasonably cheap way to get Apple Carplay and use data/iphone satnav, internet radio, music streaming. No DAB radio and radio itself pretty rubbish in my view - it may be me but I don't see how to get it to automatically retune to 'follow' a station as you drive around. Works with MFSW but doesn't display anything on the MFD, only on the head unit itself.

So, OK as long as you always connect your phone. It is relatively cheap, but missing features you may have taken for granted and that could annoy you.

Really stupid question. Can you still see all the vehicle status etc in the new headunit?

Not a stupid question, but not sure what you mean! The radios are from vws and talk to the canbus, but don't think I've had cause to look at any vehicle status on the unit.

I think you answered it for me by saying it talks to the Canbus. Think I'll look at one of the other options based on your review though. Thanks for the help

Just checked the unit in my van, I cannot see any menu to get vehicle data or status on the head unit.

There's a menu option on the HU for vehicle data on the T6.1 - I presume this is what @acompta is referring to.
