Sound deadening the floor tomorrow in my kombi,
What’s best to use to clean the metal floor and how do the seat brackets come off or do they come out once mat is removed?

The plastic surround will leaver off and you will see the cut out...as for cleaning ...use non spirt base ( or it leaves a film that make it harder to stick ur sound proofing) really as long as it’s dust free and dry don’t bother cleaning;)

Got the mat out ok...
but there is carpet and glue on the flooring as you can see in the picture....
Is it best to cut the carpet off or is it ok to cover it with the silent coat ?
Also what’s best to remove the over spray of glue?

Just noticed you haven’t done the steps? Any reasons why?
Hi ..didn’t realize that your van had been lined...glue not a real problem, sound deadening is not about covering every thing ( as I did) you can work around the Arches ( if you want try a test patch on the glue area..apply a bit of heat ..hair dryer good and if ok and sticks well ..job done..don’t forget to use the roller tool to press it down)
Not done steps as sound resonance in that area is ok...it’s the road noise via the wheel arches and the more tinny areas that need deadening but I’ve just done the front as i had to do some cable work

Will be starting my flooring tomorrow, any tips on how / where best to start?
Also suggestions on cutting around seat brackets to make it neat and tidy as yours is
Start at one end so your not crawling over the sheets you have laid....try a dry run ( so to avoid loads of cuts as it gets sticky) no real technique ( just Take ur time ) but make sure you push it into the contours....remember it ain’t got to be neat...your never see it again
And don’t cover any bungs that you may later need to pass stuff through.....thinking ahead before you lay your floor think about any
cables you might need to put in place for the future.......expect dirty finger nails :)

Does sound deadening under the rubber flooring needed? I’d have thought the rubber does a good job?

Re cutting round the seat brackets did you draw a template for them

Done half today
Blimey was tough going in this weather
My only issue so far was/is squashing out some air bubbles ?

If you lay it from one side and manipulate it over and around any contours it will push any air out, but It’s still a hot job on a warm day, did mine in the winter had to preheat every sheet......just drink plenty of beers ( got to keep your fluids up :D)
