It may (or may not) matter, but some car - derived vans are subject to commercial speed limits, a friend of mine recently got three points in his VW caddy because he didn't realise that it was over the weight limit for the "small vans" exemption.
Corsa vans are probably subject to car limits.

My mate just outside Craven Arms might consider selling his Caddy. Hang on whilst I give him a call.

Early caddies came with the 1.9PD engine which is epic - good for very high mileage.

If I were looking for a cheapish van for a new driver I’d consider the Bipper/Nemo/Fiorino range - all the same. I know nothing about them but seem reasonably priced compared to anything VW!

There is also the Berlingo / Partner range which is similar size to the caddy. A mate had a couple of the Berlingo MPV cars when he lived in France and they were very reliable and would accomplish most tasks as a people carrier / van crossover.

British Gas had a big fleet of Berlingos when I was there (in the office) so if you know any engineers they will have an opinion!

Even though it's a Renault, my kangoo (65 plate) was bullet proof. It had nav and everything in.....then, after 3 years I was hit by a drunk driver doing 60mph, I was sat stationary waiting to overtake a bus at a bus stop. The engine fell putz front of van gone. Lucky to be here really as the airbags never went off on a front impact

Berlingo and combo are pretty much the same vehicle. Would go for one of them
Don't do Ford Connect - nut'n but trouble.

Depends where in the country you are, but 2nd hand van prices are ridiculous at the moment so don't expect too much.
Might be worth finding some funding for a newer van - safer, more reliable (allegedly)

Definitely 60mph speed limit on Dual Carriageways.
