Reimo Variotech 3000 basic bed query

Hi - with the seat pad and back folded down to make a bed, can the back padded shelf (with the table attached underneath) be locked in position at say 45 degrees to allow you to sit up in bed? I just couldn't see how to lock the bed in place - it seemed either fully up against the seat back or fully flat. Thanks

Hmm, thanks, haven’t got my hands on the new van yet but that’s a drawback on the RIB for sure. I’ll have to investigate that further, possibly with the drill alternatively any tips for seating positions for sitting up in bed let me know

A big pile of cushions is our favourite option.

The value of a Variotech is it slides back and forwards super easily, no crossbars underneath so many more storage options, release handles all at the front (no crawling underneath to release locking bolts), and gives the most free space in the van if you slide it to either end. But you might need a cushion.

Excellent - thank you. I’ve also heard the Reimo cushions can be more comfy than the RIBs?

The rear cushion on a Reimo bed looks very thin but we have been happy with ours for the past six years.

Yes there is an option of fitting a base board under the seat to give useful storage which I have done on ours. I've also made a shelf on the left side to carry the levelling ramps making them available when the sliding door is open. In a LWB van the seat can be locked a bit further back by adding a couple of extra fixing holes in the track giving a bit more useful floor area. I don't know about a SWB as we've never owned one.

Yes, you sleep on the opposite side to the vehicle seats, so it’s properly flat. More comfortable than the RocknRoll I had in my T5

The fitter gave me a tip that you can make a bigger cutout in the rear flap, then slide the bed right to the end of the rails with the back door open, and you get an outside table. Not done this yet, but another option.

Hi!

Can this actually be done? Could you drill a few additional holes/placeholders for the variotech 3000? So that you have more "options"?

I have drilled one pair of extra locating holes for the seat a bit further back than the original rearmost ones enabling the seat in bed formation go right to the tailgate. Remember my vehicle was a LWB.
It could be construed that this invalidates the crash testing certificate in certain countries if the seat is used to carry passengers when in this location but personally I don't see this as weakening the structure / fitting location. However I would not advocate drilling more additional holes for seat location in various positions for passenger carrying.
The drill size and location are critical especially as you are drilling into the existing slide slot, I made a rather crude jig to locate the drill whilst doing this.

I see, completely understand what you are saying.

Can you tell me what the difference of 'holes' is or why are they placed at certain points in the vehicle?
To me it sounds like the 2 round holes - based on the original location of the row of seats, are there for carrying people.

The slightly larger holes are a bit strange to me, why not also make these similar? at this moment, you can lock the couch in its place, but it is definitely not suitable for driving if you ask me? If you brake hard or accelare the couch can move.

Ofcourse there is a 3rd slot, but that's the slot to put the couch in or out I assume.

I should look if I got a manual delivered....

Who said the new holes were larger? The elongated holes are for removal / installation of the seat/bed unit NOT for use when driving or seating.

Excuse me, I think I wasnt clear. Was not talking about the new holes you drilled.

Thanks for clearing that up, I got confused, after some research I see that somehow the rails that we got installed is different from the Rails provided by Reimo in the manual; any one any idea??

I am missing the "transportposition" and 4 different 'regular positions'.

is solved for me, this is depending on how the rail is mounted to the vehicle.
There is a difference between a bonded/glued rail and a mechanical attached rail.

The bonded/glued variant has 7 positions and the Mechincally mounted rail has 3 positions.

The bonded /glued rails from memory are only fitted to brand new vans at converters. The mechanically mounted/ 3 position can only be fitted if the van is used before conversion
