Remapping And Warranty Invalidation

I'm sure this must have been asked loads of times (I did do a search) but I couldn't find a definitive answer.

Am I right in assuming a remap would invalidate the remainder of my warranty?

Modifications will invalidate any warranty claims based on the part that been modified ie mapping an engine will invalidate the warranty on the engine and any associated parts (think fuelling etc)
Mapping an engine will not stop warranty claims on other parts of the vehicle (think bodywork, electrics, suspension etc etc)

Technically VW would need to show that the issue is a result of a modification that you have carried out to reject a warranty claim

Thank you. That's very useful to know.

To poke my nose in
I’ve had my 150 t6 t32 done and it is a quantum stage 1
Upped it to 197 ish

Is this map ok or am I better having it removed
Any thoughts as only 3k into a brand new replacement engine due to dead original engine through oil loss

You pay your money you take your chance
Modern engines in general I think are quite resilient as a whole but there’s always going to be the small percentage that has an issue and if it’s been remapped VW have a get out clause

Indeed.

I've got the lowly 102bhp so I'm thinking a remap is probably the very first thing I might need to get around to doing. Just worried about shagging my warranty but, it's reassuring to hear you say that the whole warranty isn't invalidated. That was the real question I wanted answering. Thank you.

You could get a Pendle or a Revo remap and take your van to a nice easy 150, the 5 speed box is the weak point on the 102's I believe so good mappers will allow for this.

Thanks for that. I was preparing myself for a lengthy trip to Wales to have it done at Pendle but there's actually a Revo remaper just a few miles from me in Marlow. I'll give them a call shortly, once I've woken up properly.
