Removing front passenger seat in a T6 transporter

Hi all ,
I am fitting a diesal heater to my T6 campervan and want to remove the front passenger seat. Should I disconnect the battery before unplugging under seat connectors as I have a side airbag in the seat and dont want to set it off .

Well , I removed my front passenger seat to drill a 65mm hole for my hot air outlet for a planar 2kw heater. My battery was disconnected for over 24 hours and Im pleased to report that I didnt set off the side seat airbag and when battery reconnected everything still worked. Only had to reset the auto window pinch points as per owners manual. Think I was over cautious but better than going in gung ho.
