Removing jack bracket from internal rear wheel arch

Hi I want to remove this unsightly and uncomfortable bit of metal as the jack has found a home in my passenger double base storage . ( where it does not rattle !) has anyone done this and regretted it ? also any tips on removing it . I presume I will just grind the thing off and make good with the carpet over the wound .

use a spot weld drill bit for a neat job. Size 8.0.

I think a spot weld drilling tool makes a neater job.
