Gotta say this is the first time I've seen this message . . . . . RENEW KEY BATTERY!

normally my key/s get smashed to bits before the battery gets a chance to run low.


Original key used daily from MY18 van so 3 years old.

Had this on our Passat when we bought it 3 years ago...never got round to renewing it and now that message doesn't appear any more...seems to work fine still.

I have a 68 plate and the battery went the other month
No warning it just stopped working on the fob had to use the key in the door
Which then sets the alarm off

Although the battery’s are easy to change
I had a transit custom (sorry for swearing) before this and the key is sealed as it’s supposed to last the lifetime of the vehicle…….
It doesn’t

Had this msg on my 2017 twice in last month but still going strong

I changed the battery on a 20 year old Audi key for the first time a few months ago.
3 years seems like a very short time even for daily use
