Repainting side window frame?

Noticed the paint on my aluminium side window frames is starting to peel, how should I repaint this? 2 in one spray paint? Enamel and a brush? Exhaust paint? Or just take it to a body shop for professional painting? (Nervous about how much that would cost, labour is extremely expensive here in Oz)

What shade of black would you say they are? Matte? Satin?

cheers!!!

I always try a black sharpie as a starter for ten or a bit of satin black rattle can once masked off perhaps - novice opinion though. Good luck with it

P.s. welcome to the forum ya Ozzie dick hed hehe x

On aluminium, sand it lightly as the aluminium oxidises quickly. Use an etch primer (contains a little acid to bind with the aluminium better) and then satin.

All do-able from rattle cans! (Just be prepared for how good it will look and chuffed at how much you saved!!!

Thanks a lot for the pointers, which sandpaper would you go over the aluminium with? Cheers mate

400 and above wet and dry would be fine. You could even use the fine scotchbrite sanding pads (though that may be a UK brand name)

Ideally you’ll want to feather remaining paint to meet the metal to avoid an obvious ridge when you paint it. You only need to take sheen off the sound paint to key it for the new paint.
