Ordered our Kombi not realising that I needed the roof bar prep to fit our Thule wing bars off the California..
it has a slotted section built in the roof on a California the feet for the wingbars slid in....

can these be retrofitted on a Kombi ???
I see it in the options as roof bar prep but the van has a built date now so it cannot be added...
The Thule wingbars (cross bars) for putting the snowboards on.
I Don’t want roof rales fitted ...
Cheers in advance for any advice

Yo can order the foot pack u need to reuse the same bars.
I have the Thule bars on my panel van but bought the foot pack 3057 to use on the cali if needed.

So without sounding thick to use the wingbars on our Kombi without roof prep I just need a new foot pack ???

Yes, that is what I have done but the other way around.
Site below helps
Buyer's Guide

Check what length bars you have tho, I ordered the 135 cm long, there is also a 127mm long bar which may be a bit short.

getting my new van in a few weeks on my last t5 I had roof prep but when I ordered the new van it was no longer available on a panal van only on a Kombi
Anybody got any idea where I could source these for retro fitting
Thanks in advance

Does anyone know where I can get roof prep channels, had them on my previous camper and need some more for my roofrack/roofbox when we go on holiday soon.
Must be plenty out there what with all the pop tops around.
Can anybody help?, have some for sale?

Left & right channels 7H1860181AQZU & 7H1860182AQZU

8 Speed nuts 7H0817940A

8 Screws 7L0860137D

2 Screws N90897401

2 Nuts N10516801

8 Bolts N90993801

Thule Rapid System (4 pack) 751 or lower 753
Thule WingBar Evo 135 - aluminum (pair) 7114 or longer 150
Rapid Fitting Kit 183057
Set of locks and keys locks

I have a set of the roof bars I bought in may this year but I'm selling the van so would go with it. would possibly be willing to sell the channels and bars so PM me also have the additional bolts new and unused.

you can get the parts from a dealer or TPS may be able to assist. I dont remember the cost but may have the receipt. also when you buy the fitting kit you have to buy more than you need. so I may well have extra.

Sorry to hijack the thread guys but Any idea on part numbers for lwb?

I've seen a few places that have multiple parts diagrams but doesn't state weather it's lwb or swb

Cheers

Yes matey, this is for the SWB,

HOWEVER,

For the LWB
they should be:

7H3860181A left and 7H3860182 right
best check though but I think this is correct.

Anyone got the fitting guide for the above, i've just got myself a set of the roof prep rails today to fit before i fit the Thule 5102
TIA

No guide but honestly they are super easy. Have you the additional parts to slide into the roof for more bolts to hold down the rails? If so. Line up the rails on the roof mark and drill holes as per the rails and the original threaded holes. And then prep the holes with some form of anti rust. Place the new nuts inside aligned with those holes and when you go to bolt down the rails I suggest a bit of Sealant just to make sure no water creeps in. Briefly that's how I did mine and worked perfect. Although only a recommendation and not official guidance. Up to you if you follow it..I take no responsibility to freely offered advise

cheers bud, i think the Caravelle has the holes already so hopefully no drilling. Got the full set from the dealer this morning including all the fixings etc. Silcaflex ordered to for the awning which i'll add a bit sealant too

Hi, interested in these fitting instructions but not sure I quite get how you slide the new nuts inside. Is this with the internal trim removed to get access. Sorry if its a dumb question but I have never done this before. Any clarification much appreciated. Do you need the extra bolts (3 or 4?) or can you rely on the 4 roof bolting points.
