Roof scratches, what to paint with?

Found out today my van has scratches on the roof from the previous owner, must have been done by something on the rood rack, its gone to the metal in a few places.
Does anyone have any suggestions for a product I can treat or paint it with to protect from rust? its a indium grey van, not over bothered on matching the paint as I cant see it 99.9% of the time close match would be ideal?

Can you post a picture of the damage?

Depending how big just get a touch up paint. If it is showing signs of rust, ie its gone through the galvanising, I’d be inclined to try and clean it up, perhaps with some folded wet & dry paper (do it dry). Mask around the scratch to protect the good paint.

Then something like Bilt Hamber rust treatment, primer then colour and lacquer.

Like you say, it doesnt need to look pretty just halt the tin worm!

Also, I’d go and have a chat with your local paint shop. They might not want a lot just to blow it in.

cheers guys, some good points there,
Not showing any signs of rust at the moment just want to nip it in the bud as left it could be an issue in a couple of years. Will go and take a pic when its not hammering it down!
