Roof Skin Mastic Removal

Matchwood

New Member
I have just removed the roof liner (T6) and found that some of the mastic (glue?) seems to have melted and dripped out causing the separation of the the roof skin from the cross member. It's like a very sticky tar like substance, which means I can't replace it with Sikaflex until I clean it all off. I've searched previous threads and YouTube etc and can't find anything...

Can anyone suggest the best stuff to clean it off with? And the best 'glue' to replaced it with? Thanks :0)

That's very common, mines the same ... Think it's from factory.

Or the paint otherwise you’ll be down to bare metal in seconds
Acetone doesn't affect 2K paint like that. It can cause damage with excess rubbing at full strength but for this a gentle wipe, it'll be fine,

Cellulose is affected however, it'll wash off pretty easily as you say but only a cheap aftermarket respray or rattle can job is going to be celly these days.
