Roof Spoiler - paint bond failed!

Hi all,

Fitted barn door rear spoilers several months ago now. The bond has been strong for most of that time but noticed today that the spoilers have both come loose.
I used Sikaflex 221 and followed all instructions. Is it common for Sikaflex to fail in such a short time? Not investigated the cause yet but I would have thought that if the bond was no good from the start that they would have come loose sooner? I thought 221 was weather-resistant so water wicking in wouldn't cause any issues?!

Reading up on Sikaflex website and other forums I might use 552 next time.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Did you clean both surfaces with alcohol based cleaner?

I keyed both materials but don't remember the using alcohol cleaner or panel wipe. Guessing I should have done that

SOLVED
The bond hadn't failed. The paint had lifted from the plastic. sikaflex and layer of paint now suck on top of the doors that I'll need to get off!
