Rough acceleration

I have just bought a 150 manual 21 with 9k on the clock, acceleration is a dogs dinner below 2k, takes off there but can be up and down with power delivery through rev range sometimes…not consistent, got it checked yesterday and sods law the drive to stealers felt fine after 2 weeks of varying lumpy power delivery, picked up this morning and felt a little of it again, less than has been but there they said nothing wrong when road testing yesterday and no codes. Also noticed today turbo making loud whooshing noise for first 2-5 mins driving, i am hoping blocked injectors and cleaner I put in is starting to work it’s magic (hence inconsistent issue) anyone experienced similar and found a solution? Love the van but makes commuting almost dangerous when expecting it to go and it lags, takes off, lags again etc

Those symptoms suggest it’s trying to complete a regen of the DPF. If you don’t complete the cycle it will start again the next time it’s up to temperature. There are no warning lights during a regeneration, just the slightly high idle, roughness and some turbo flutter.

The other thing to check for is a split front intercooler. Check for oil staining through the front grill.

Loz,

Thank you for the above, I have had a look at the intercooler and it looks ok, certainly no obvious damage, possibly some minor staining to the sides but could just be where I washed the van yesterday.

my experience on the DPF in my old biturbo 180 DSG was light on dash - good run - no light, so the regen process you link to with no lights could well be the cause, thank you.

I will take it for a 2000RPM 30 + min run and see what that does for the power delivery.

Cheers

Dan

At the weekend i did 2 runs around 30mins each at 2000-2250 and still getting the same intermittent issue, possibly less so, its very frustrating and more so that it was fine the day I took it to dealers!

at what stage should the turbo kick in, surely 2k is high, there is a massive surge at 1,900-2 lumpy/hesitation below and loose the pull around 3500, when it worked the day I went to main dealer it was smooth and pulled through rev range so I know it can do it, feeling very frustrated.
