Looking to sell my T6 camper and wondering if I should wait a while to nearer Spring to get a better price? Instinctively it feels like the right thing to do but does it really make much difference in reality.
IMO people don't buy a camper with the intention of immediately embarking on a significant camping excursion. More likely, they'd look to familiarise themselves with the vehicle and the conversion over a number of weeks/months, building-up from day-trips to something more substantial. In other words, they'd be looking to buy now(ish) in order to be fully up to speed for the upcoming season.
I think it's a tough market to sell in at the moment. We had the massive boom in prices thanks to Covid and it feels like it's very much a buyers market with more vans on the market that have been sitting on people's driveways for 12/18 months as everyone is happy to jump back on a plane now.
Fully agree with the advice above. Put it up here and test the water with nothing to lose and if I was in the market for a new van, I think getting something before Easter would be my goal.
I marked mine down in price when I listed it late last year. sold at £24k in the end (advertised at £25k) BUT if I held on until spring/summer, I would've listed for £27/£28k
There are alot of dreamers out there trying to get stupid money for their vans. The result is they languish for ages. This goes for a lot dealers too.
I've seen 9 year old 65/66 plate vans with 100k advertised at 20k !! That's with no conversion. Sorry, but T6.1's from 2020 can be had for that money.
The old adage that van is only worth what someone is prepared to pay really does apply.
So, carefully research your price and make it as attractive a deal as possible
