Seat/bed positions

is it possible to put a seat/bed behind the driver and turn the back into the kitchen? I’ve looked at 2 single rib beds but they’re 3k which is crazy. Unsure on if I can just bolt anywhere and be insured as I’ve heard insurance can be iffy with seats being in random places?

Essentially yes.

Crash-tested seats like the RIB, or make your own.

If you trust your passengers lives (and your own) in them.

The UK doesn't have much in the way of legislation when it comes to vehicle modificationd like this.

So I could in theory put the Altair 112 behind the driver if I can find good mounting points and not need to worry about the law? I’ll be doing it all safe but I require a toilet a quick change bed but I’d like the kitchen in the back so it’s forcing me to look at stuff I’ve never seen people do, I don’t fancy paying 3k for separate when they’re only 2k together. Essentially I’ve decided I want what the Ford nugget does in a T6, but they custom made the bed to fit that I think.

The Nugget is done for Ford by Westfalia, the Joker range is basically the same layout on a VW.

You can buy it's never been tested in this configuration so can never say it's 'safe' as you don't have numbers to back it up. The reason the seats are nearly 3k is because you are buying 2 of them. , 2 sliders, 2 mechanisms etc, so.in theory 2 so gle.seats are cheaper than 2 x 2 seaters if you get my drift. You would be better going for the 2 seats as they are designed for such an install, and you can access the rear simply. But ultimately your van, your call. Cheers

I’ve still got a few month before I even look at vans so I’m trying to get the bed part sorted as it’s obviously the most awkward part because of where I want it. I was going to do just one rib and then make some sort of pullout slats for it. But it appears buying one is hard too. I might just have to bite the bullet and spend the extra and copy the one I seen with two singles

The bed is the place to start. Being a certified part, you can't modify it so always build the conversion aound the bed
