Seat storage in a shed

We've recently acquired an extra seat to go in the back of our van, one of the standalone seats with an integrated belt. It's been a great addition when we have family visiting, but most of the time it's just 3 of us so the seat is removed in order to put in our camping setup.

Anyhow, my question is regarding seat storage... it's way too heavy and cumbersome to put in the loft, so I'd like to store it in the shed. However, our shed isn't totally sealed so I'm worried that the seat will get mouldy and smelly over the winter.

Has anyone used some sort of waterproof/sealed storage bag for their extra seat? I'm thinking of something that I can put it in to, stick in the shed and not worry about damp or shed-smells affecting it.

Any recommendations gratefully received!

We keep our patio furniture cushions, parasol etc in a plastic outside storage box. That all keeps perfectly dry and mould free all year round, and that's outside. I can't see any reason why a car seat shouldn't be the same.

Wrapping it is likely to make matters worse by stopping it breathing. You would be better to add ventilation to the shed and make sure the seat is clean and dry before storing away uncovered. Mould will form on any dirt whatever you do so cleaning it is key.

pull out the belt and give it a good clean with some Big wipes or isopryl alcohol as they fest all sorts of bacteria that strives in the confines of that reel. Probably goes the same for the seats give them a good clean to make sure are fresh.

suspect your biggest issue could be mice taking hold of it as a nice place to live which you wont find out until you pull it out.

My view? Leave it unfolded and accessible and check it regularly and just throw a sheet/blanket over it.
