Seatbelts on rear seating

Hi, this might be a silly question but as I have zero knowledge of anything mechanical I’m going to ask anyway.

We are converting our SWB T6 this spring.

We are not wanting the traditional layout so have ruled out a rock n roll bed and RIB bed.

We are looking at getting perhaps a U shaped seating layout or a slide out bed system.

I’ve seen various companies doing U shaped and I have seen two companies who sell and fit U shaped/sliding beds with seat belts.

We have a conversion company locally lined up. We are visiting them in a couple of weeks to get the ball rolling with the conversion. They showed me a company that do supply only as an option for some U shaped seating.

I am wondering if we buy a U shaped layout can seatbelts be added? We are wanting at least 2 crash tested seatbelts.

I think Cascade and Buffalo have kits that can have 2/4 seatbelts on the SWB U Shaped kits - both are supply and fit so I couldn’t purchase for my installer - and they are both many many miles away from me.

Posting on here on the off chance someone has had crash tested seatbelts added when having a U shaped or slide out bed installed.

I might have read the framework for the bed has to be metal to have seat belts but I don’t know if this is correct.

If anyone has any knowledge of adding seat belts to non traditional seating I’d be grateful to hear.

Thank you.

I think unless we have cascade or the other company fit one, we can’t add seat belts - the ply I shaped systems can’t have seat belts

Thanks all

If you don't want a traditional side wardrobe layout but do need rear seats belts, have you considered a full length, low profile side unit. It allows you to have windows all around to reduce the claustrophobic feel. We don't need rear belts as we are just two, but we did consider it for a long time before we went U shaped.

I think after many hours googling images that we have settled on the Flatout bed system. We will get 2 rear seats behind front seats and the Flatout bed is up against the side when not in use. This works for us.

The van will mostly be my day vehicle and I taken the dogs out so need daily space for a cage to two.
