Service History

Hi everyone, hoping for some advice.

I've found a 2017 fully converted T6 camper. 77k on the clock. lts perfect, drives lovely and is exactly what I need for me and the family. It's alot of money but I'd say a bit below market value

I've just asked the dealer about the service history and there isn't one. Apparently it's 'lost'. The mileage looks genuine from the MOT history, the garage have promised to do a cambelt/water pump and full service as well as 12 months MOT included in the sale.

I'm aware that i could also get an independent check on the van too but that won't stop me running into issues when I come to sell the thing on.

So my questions are:

Should I just walk away?

Is there any way to get hold of the history (in this day and age I'm amazed it isn't held somewhere like MOT info is)

Thanks in advance

If you have the VIN number it’s possible to access any saved online service history for a fee
If you have a local dealer they maybe able to help or failing that you could register on the VW Erwin website and pay to access it your self (if there is any ?)

Guessing it's not a main dealer - any main dealer SH is digital and I get a print out on each one which gives the full history.

Are there any receipts for services with the paperwork?

If not, I'd probably walk away - no evidence of ANY service history over 77k miles is a bit too much of a risk. What engine is it? If it's a DSG and/or a 204BiTdi then run for the hills because no evidence of a DSG oil change or engine maintenance could end up in BIG bills if something goes wrong.

No shortage for sale. Just go find one with history, unless they discount to minimum book value to reflect the lack of provenance.

No, nothing. No receipts at all. Bit surprised the service light wasn't on but that could have just been turned off

Remember since 2016 there are no physical service book to stamp for transporters everything is logged online, if youve seen the van and like it then its worth a few quid to check what history has been logged
