I have a large unpressurised underslung water tank ready to fit. I also have a Sureflo pump which sits in a unit and a SMEV 9222 setup with tap. I can't seem to find any method of connecting the tap wiring to the pump. Do I need some kind of relay?
On mine I have a switch connection on the tap, which I have going to a relay to fire up the power supply to the pump. Thinking is that if I get a leak after the pump, the drop in pressure won’t empty my tank into the cupboards.
I have been told that the pump should just come on by itself when I open up the tap so the tap wiring is redundant and only for the small submersible taps. Is this not correct? Otherwise the relay makes sense to me. Thanks.

It will come on by itself when you open the tap, that’s true. So it will work just fine without a relay.
It will also come on by itself if there is a leak somewhere and continue to run until the pressure hits the 30psi (or whatever limit) or your battery goes flat. So usually you install a manual switch, or a relay.
