Side Doors Freezing Shut ?

im currently in the Alps in my shuttle and have to say it’s doing really well on winter tyres despite being 2WD and there being lots of snow!

It’s usually around -10’c at night and the side doors keep freezing shut, has anyone else had that before ?

Even the front doors are quite tough to open, I’m going to ask locals who have T5s and T6s if they get that too, maybe I need to get some different grease on the door runners..

It will be the door seals themselves. Any rubber lubricating product should be fine but if you can find one called wurth gummi pflege that is one of the better brands. Can be used if you get squeeky doors too.

It's not just vw's that suffer so ask anyone with a car. Some folk use vaseline but this stays wet & obviously can get on your clothes etc

Another thumbs up for Gummi Pflege. Used to have this problem particularly badly on our old xc60 but a treatment of this stuff every so often sorted it.

I have used Autoglym Vinyl and Rubber Care also for all door seals and that works for me. I have used a cloth moistened by the stuff to wipe/clean the seals (all around, not just the touching surface - easy using a cloth). What I specially like is it doesn't leave the seals sticky to collect dust and dirt.
EDIT: The seal in the front door following wheel arch seems to be in need to be treated more often as it's more "fragile" being fastened with just tiny plastic clips.

Whatever you do dont force it, you will rip the seals away, stretch them & then they wont fit back properly. Bin there, done that on the Movano

Great info, thanks !

I'll have a look in the hardware store tomorrow for either Gummi Pflege or Silicone spray
