sliding door doesnt unlock fully

I've started having problems with unlocking the sliding side door. Thought it was just the cold, but its happening more and more.

The central locking works, I can hear the actuator clicking, so i presume it a mechanical problem between the main door lock unit and the push down lock below the interior handle.
No amount of constant locking/unlocking, wiggling the handle seems to work... and then it'll randomly just open.

Its too much of a hassle climbing through from the back doors

Lubricant down the push down lock maybe??

Had a read through.... don't really fancy drilling holes into the lock unit

There is limited lubrication you can do without doing this, or replacing the lock mechanism.
It's worth removing the door trim and having a look to see if the button is sticking, or if the actuation rod as it enters the lock mechanism is sticking.
