So... Do You Think They Washed It?

I put a deposit on a T6 in November. Picked it up this week. (Love it)

When I paid the deposit I specified for it not to be washed or detailed at all.

When I spoke to the dealer in early Jan I reminded him of this.

In Feb we spoke again and he remembered my no wash request when going over the details.

In March I sent him an email with a reminder of my no detail/wash request.

We also spoke on the phone later in the month at which time he asked me why I didn't want it washed. I wanted to be polite and so I said that my brother who's really into cars told me not to get it washed.

In April we spoke again a few days before delivery and he repeated the fact the van would not be washed.

So... when I turned up to collect my van do you think it had been washed?

You'd know.
I did exactly the same and my dealer listen to that instruction and didn't wash it. How did I know? It was very dusty and dirty. You could see the hand prints in the dust from various checks and movements, and best of all, it was totally swirl free.
There's normally a white material cover over the bonnet to protect whist in transit. This leaves a very fine grid effect over the bonnet in the dust. Also, mine still had all the barcodes, shipping stickers, and blue foam on the door edges.

Any less than the above, and a perfectly clean T6, I'd be worried it's been washed.

What colour is yours?

Indium Grey. I couldn't find any swirl marks but I was also just so excited to be picking it up that it was hard to concentrate plus it was in the show room with flattering light. I think it's fine and of course it looked so damn good in the showroom that it was hard to think completely clearly. I am bummed about it though. Its first wash was mine to give. He made some excuse about it being covered in bird shit. Honestly the dirtier it was the happier I would have been. He had kind of laughed a couple of times about the "no wash" thing in the months preceding which should have alerted me to the fact he was not taking me seriously. I had no idea a dealer selling a 45K car would not take you seriously.

At least they didn't take all the stickers off so that was fun. Now that I've been through the process I really think a new car should be not washed and the stickers left on. Any less than that and it doesn't feel to me like you're really receiving a new car.

So it had been washed then.

I wouldn't worry too much, Grey is a good colour for not making any marring too obvious, unlike Black or BlackBerry, plus 6 months down the line it's covered in swirls anyway :(

Just nicer to know you've introduced any paint damage, and not someone else.

Can you imagine how the topcoat looked on my 6 month old ex demonstrator ?.

Its in and out every day and so gets washed by the dealer constantly.

The finish is absolutely hammered with 100% of the bodywork heavily swirled and loads of scratches.

The clowns in the wash bay mush think, 'grit guard' means making sure the wash mit/sponge has grit in it at all times.

Listers washed mine and then used a machine polisher on it, when I got it you could see the paint burns all down the side when under direct sunlight.

Worse bit is they couldn’t care less and wouldn’t rectify it. It’s only a van after all.
