Software for coding tow bar on t6.1

Hi all,
I have a t6.1 2021 dsg and it does not have trailer prep . I’m buying a wedtfailia tow bar and electrics kit and would like to know the cheapest software kit to buy for me to plug in an activate the tow bar / be able to read codes etc in the future with the van.
I have an iPad , and cheap lap to too to hopefully use with it.
Thank you!

Yes, it is easy.
Have a look below.

And before you change anything save your AUTOSCAN and all of your adaptations.

Same unit I have, it’s the best/most complete unit for diagnosing and tweaking but obviously comes with a price tag
There’s a few cheaper options but they all have some form of limitation in functionality or compatibility somewhere

Hi all, just fitted a tow bar and dedicated tow bar wiring from PF jones for my t6.1. I have not coded it yet as I’m still waiting for it to arrive but after fitting the kit to the van the cruise control has a warning and won’t work , as well as the acc. I guess this needs coding as well ?

I had a Oris detachable towbar fitted at a great price but think it may have screwed with my THQ v1’s on the T6.1. My front passenger side full beam is stuck on or flickers. It’s driving me nuts and I can’t get to the bottom of it. Does this need coded you think? Thought I’d solved it by sticking halogens in the full beam on both sides but it has started to do the same with halogen in.

Evening all, towbar wiring kits that use CAN modules cannot interfere with the lighting circuits in any way, the module reads specific CAN id's and outputs them to the trailer socket when the additional load is detected (through a trailer etc being connected)
On the T6.1 many wiring kits also connect am analog brake light signal at the BCM, we don't advise this is connected on the T6 as it caused issues with incorrect bulb failure issues, however the T6.1 did not share this issue at all. (Ps, I design and develop vehicle specific towbar wiring for the UK market)
I would honestly suggest disconnecting your trailer wiring to see if you still have the flickering issue. If it goes, reconnect the CAN for the trailer module, retest, if ok, reconnect the analog brake signal, if the flickering re-appears, potentially leave this disconnected, brake lights on the trailer will still function over CAN.
If the problem remains with the trailer wiring disconnected then it's most likely your issue is elsewhere mate.

If I can help further let me know I'm more than happy to advise what I can for you 👍

Yes, you need to code 13, the radar, control module for towing sensor needs to be checked.
You will also need security access for this module = 20103

I can guide you through the entire coding procedure if needed with VCDS or ODIS 👍
