Having read this thread about bad radio reception - T6 Aerials, Gps, Dab, Fm/am, Gsm - How I Did It and knowing that my offside wing mirror is not body colour (as it should be for a Trendline) and was not responding to the electric controls, I decided to take the mirror apart.

Thanks to folks on YouTube here and here, I found the following...

First, not torx screws but some posidrive ones  and no wires for the heated mirror :(

No aerial modules at all and no loom visible

Some monkey at Avis/Budget rentals has chopped it just inside the door when they replaced the mirror.

So, will this just need a new short loom into the bag in the A pillar? And how do I get into the A pillar, please?

It looks like the "loom" is part of the complete wing mirror? EDIT: okay, after a bit more reading on the forum...the question I need to answer is 3-pin, 5-pin, 7-pin or 9-pin?

My other wing mirror is correctly auto - folding, heating and adjusting. In the cut loom picture above it looks like 7 cores and 3 antennas?

I had the door card off today but didn't know what to look for :(

Have now removed the offending loom! Amazing how quickly you become expert in removing the door card :p it looks like mine's a 7-pin 3 antennae type. One of the antennae wasn't connected to anything, presumably as I don't have GPS, although I haven't checked the diagrams.

Quick steps to remove door card

The replacement mirror arrived (as described by this seller on ebay) and I've fitted it. Tl/dr I now have FM/DAB, heated remote controlled folding mirrors :)

To change the wing mirror over, having removed the door card (see above), you disconnect the antennae and multiway plug (in my case 7-pin - 2 for heating, 5 for folding and remote control), and unbolt the earth (10mm spanner). Remove the rubber bung from hole in door.

Lesson learnt, lower the window before you start (or reconnect the window controls briefly with the door card off, as I did).

Undo the three torx bolts inside the door shut and the mirror falls off.

Repeat in reverse to fit new mirror.

Test the mirror controls before closing up the door card. Yay! It's folding :)

And Radio 6 Music is back in its rightful place (and FM works too)

Well, it's taken this long to open up my passenger mirror, as I didn't need to until now to fit the puddle lights and I've found this:

Which would explain the other reception problem with the stereo, on AM (which I have not missed). So I'll need to order an aerial 7E0 035 532

sorry to drag up an old post, but did you ever order an aerial 7E0 035 532? I find myself in the same position.

Where did you get it from?
