sooooooo.....

Fidget

In the dark here.

I've recently picked up my 2.0L and have the paperwork to say it has a Pendle map taking it to 180bhp. I've also noticed that the van is giving on average(comp) 31-36mpg.

Is this right?
The figures done by fuel in and miles out brings it in around 35mpg.

So what I'm asking is this - is this right? If i get it taken back to 150bhp am I going to get better mpg or is this the way it is?

I appreciate this may have been asked before but all i can find is people wanting to take the horses up and not down.

New to this T6 lark so taking it day to day.

Many thanks

Sounds about right, have spoken to a few remappers and mpg increase is only slight, 3/4 mpg.
Taking it back to 150 wont improve things.

Hi there @Fidget, what the onboard computer tells you is a tad different to the real world economy if you were to calculate how many litres you had put in the tank and how much mileage you had done, in a tankfull to tankfull scenario.
There have been a lot of discussions across the forum about MPG and it does generally sit in the 30-40 mpg bracket dependant upon how you drive, length of journey, motorway versus rural country road. Some people have 150PS vesions and report lower fuel economy than what people with the 204PS report.
Personaly I have a 180PS bi-turbo euro5 lump in mine. I drive very sedately, the van is generally only used at the weekend and then it does long journeys, but mostly has a boat trailer hooked up behind it. I will normally get 40-43mpg measured on the dash during such journeys.
I know that a couple of folk have had the Pendle treatment (@andythom188 has taken a 180 euro 5 up to 213PS, and @RattyMcClelland - not sure what he started with). The remap will generally make the engine more efficient (again depending on weight of right boot) because of how it improves the stoichiometric metering, but the most significant gain is the output and the way that the engine delivers the power through the rev range.
Ultimately, i don't think that taking it back to standard will improve the fuel economy, as it doesn't make an enormous difference on these vans.

I have a Pendle remapped 150 and saw no real change either way in economy following my remap.

I was thinking of a Pendle remap for my 140. If I can get extra power with no loss of MPG then that's a good outcome.
Any other issues?
Did it put your insurance up?
Do I need to do anything weird when I take it in for a service??

It will undoubtedly put your insurance up. I have a modified van policy with A-plan. I can do pretty much anything I like to the van without it affecting the premium, with the exception of altering the engine output.

Thanks @DaveyB, I have a modified van policy too - just not sure what "modifications" are covered. I probably need to ask the insurer.
Also interested if there are any other implications of a remap that I should consider.

As @DaveyB says, I’m with Brentacre, no increase in premium with any mods apart from increasing engine power.

db it didn't put my insurance up when I had mine done, and on last years renewel the policy cost went down and with the same company herts HIC

thanks for the info on the van, it does put my mind at ease.
i'm with brentcare and they came out £100 cheaper than Aplan, even with all the mods and engine tweak.
